Tuesday in My Studio

It's Tuesday, and I almost forgot my "regular" Tuesday post again. Almost. It's not midnight here yet, so this still counts.

Last week was a very eventful week--Riley (our adorable new little granddaughter) was born on Friday; also on Friday, my husband Dave retired after more than 40 years at the same company, we went with friends to see a Patriots football game on Sunday (they won), and on Monday we got to meet Riley for the first time. She's a cutie, isn't she?
I did manage to find some in my studio, though, and almost finished this drawing.  I did the main part of the drawing with Prismacolor pencils on Colorfix sanded paper.  I've used rough paper before, but never anything this rough.  The paper demands a much looser style than I'm accustomed to, and I found it thoroughly enjoyable.  Since Colorfix is a paper intended for use with pastels, I thought that doing the background in pastel would be absolutely perfect.  And, it may well be a perfect solution.  The only catch is that I don't have the first clue how to use pastels.  So as soon as I take care of that little detail, I'll finish this one.

Thanks for stopping by my studio!

Ava's Card

I think it's safe to post this now.  This is the card I sent Jenn McMillan right after her daughter Ava was born last month.  Geez, Jenn...isn't it time for some new Ava pics on your blog????

Card Details
Stamps - Starving Artistamps - DoodleFactory Oh Baby

Paper - Cosmo Cricket Early Bird Mini Deck

I only have time for a quickie post today during my lunch break, but I'll be back tomorrow for another Divine Diva Inspiration challenge.  See you then!

Baby Quilt

When I saw the Faux Iris Folding technique in the latest Technique Junkies newsletter, all I could think of was a quilt. At the time, I has just gotten the new Doodle Factory Oh Baby! stamps from Starving Artistamps. All of the elements seemed to be meant for each other...you know, like chocolate and peanut butter, so I just had to make this card.

For the quilt, I grabbed a bunch of coordinating scraps to make my piecework. To add to to the quilty feel, I drew stitching in the border with a white gel pen. My images are colored with Copic markers.

Enjoy the weekend!

Beautiful Baby

I decided to do a card for Card Positioning Systems CPS117 today. Would you believe that I've been working on this card all afternoon? I seem to have the attention span of a gnat today. Sigh.

Not too much techie stuff to tell about this one...the images are DoodleFactory Oh Baby from Starving Artistamps colored with Copic markers. The paper is Cosmo Cricket Hello Sunshine.

Hope you're having a great Memorial Day weekend!

It's the Little Things

I dragged hubby out shopping with me Saturday...he's such a good sport. We went to not one, but two flea markets, the local furniture/gift/home dec/knick-knack store, AND a yarn shop. We stopped for lunch at the local brew pub, though, so he did get some reward, lol! I've been looking for a shelf for the kitchen ever since we redecorated it a year ago. Finally, I found one I liked on Saturday, and here it is. Don't you just love it? I do...it makes me feel so happy and the room looks so homey now. It's the little things!

I also have a new card to share with you guys. I recently got a new batch of Starving Artistamps rubber. This is a new to me image that is actually one of the original DoodleFactory collections...say hello to Dabble from the Animals collection. Dabble is colored with Copic markers, and the rest of the card is assembled from scraps and clearance finds from my rather vast stash of stuff.
