Summer Fun

I've never tried water skiing, but people swear that it's fun.  As for me, I'd rather be in the boat than being dragged behind it, lol!

I so think this image from Starving Artistamps is fun, though.  It's from the Juniper and Jupiter Go to the Beach collection, and I used it along with the Weave background and a sentiment from the DoodleFactory Tropics collection.  The image is colored with Copic markers and layered onto a panel I made from scraps of blue paper.  I had originally planned to use a plain red background, but the paper I chose was a bit too bright for my taste and kind of clashed with my ribbon. To fix that, I stamped it with the mesh background in a darker shade of red ink, which toned it down, added some nice texture, and unified all of my various shades of red.  I didn't think to take before and after shots, but trust me...the difference is huge!

See you tomorrow for the new DoodleFactory release!  In the meantime, go have some summer fun while there's still some summer left.  Where did July go, anyway?

  1. I'm with you...I'd rather be IN the boat than IN the water. This is a great the fun design.

  2. Great card - I really like the layered background!

  3. I also will be in the boat, not being pulled behind it. I love the card.

  4. I love that background of blue!!! and what a great idea to tone down the red with tone on tone stamping! Brilliant!! I'll have to give that one a try some time!!

  5. Great card! I love your design! That blue is definitely refreshing and a great match for that fun red!

It's so nice to hear from you...thanks for taking the time to comment!
